US: On Friday the 18th of December, the US commerce department added drone maker DJI which sells some of the best drones on the market, chipmaker SMIC and dozens of other Chinese companies to its entity list.
It was added to the list that mist if the companies are restricted from exporting US technology without a license, Chinese Telecom Huawei has been on the list since May 2019.
These entry list restrictions are a necessary measure to ensure that China through its national Champion SMIC is not able to leverage U.S. technologies to enable indigenous advanced technology levels to support its destabilizing military activities.
Apparently, it is unclear why DJI was added, but drone DJ suggested it was a result of the company’s reported work for the Chinese government.
These two have responded positively to comments, i.e DJI and SMIC.
The Chinese tech giant Huawei and artificial intelligence company Megvii developed and tested facial recognition software that triggered alerts whenever the technology detected Uighur Muslims, according to an internal document obtained by researcher IPVM and provided to The Washington Post.
The company has therefore produced a camera and other technologies that can boost the companies brand image, iPhone, Camera Lens, etc.
